Joseph James Buczek, 59, a resident of Davenport, died Friday, March 27, 2020 at his home due to a heart condition.
Due to the current health concerns, a memorial mass will be held at a later date. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Davenport. Memorials may be made to Café on Vine, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church for the McAnthony Window, or Churches United for the Salvation Army Meal. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.
Joe was born February 11, 1961 in Terre Haute, Indiana, the son of Joseph and Anne (Kotta) Buczek. Joe attended Indiana State University. He worked for Columbia Records and the United States Postal Service.
Joe was an active member at St. Mary Catholic Church in Davenport. He was an eucharistic minister, usher, altar server, assisted with the Salvation Army Meal, visiting the homebound, and enjoyed singing. Joe enjoyed bowling and his weekly Bible study with Fr. Ed O’Meilia. For many years he volunteered at the Hawkeye Express in Coralville, assisting with the transport of loyal Hawkeye fans to Kinnick Stadium.
Those left to honor his memory include his sister, Mary Buczek of Davenport; aunt, Margie Buczek of Noblesville, Indiana; many cousins; and members of his church family.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, and many aunts and uncles.
