- Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for John A. Pohlmann, 76, a resident of Davenport, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 27, 2017 at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 2618 Boies Avenue, Davenport. The family will greet friends Monday at church from 9:00 a.m. until mass time. Burial will be in Holy Family Cemetery, Davenport. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport assisted his family with arrangements.

John passed away Friday, November 24, 2017, at Good Samaritan, Davenport.

John Aloysius Pohlmann was born June 5, 1941, in Davenport, a son of Aloysius and Josephine (Jansen) Pohlmann. He was a 1959 graduate of Assumption High School. He had worked as a Planner, Estimator for the Department of Defense on the Rock Island Arsenal, retiring after 30 years of service.

John had a special devotion to St. Alphonsus Church serving in many capacities over the years. He especially enjoyed singing in the choir. His hobbies and interests in science and aviation lead him from a hobby of constructing and flying RC airplanes, to becoming a pilot and owning his own plane.

John was especially close to his nieces and nephews and cherished spending time with his family.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Good Samaritan Society, Davenport

Those left to honor his memory include his siblings; Lee (Susan) Pohlmann, William (Mary Lou) Pohlmann, James (Geraldine) Pohlmann, David (Barbara) Pohlmann, and Gene (Sandy) Pohlmann and numerous loving nieces and nephews and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents.
