John McGlynn

Funeral Services to celebrate the life of John J. McGlynn, 54, of Davenport, will be 11:00 am Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, Davenport. The family will greet friends Wednesday from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the funeral home.

John died unexpectedly of natural causes Saturday, March 10, 2018, at his residence following a suspected cardiac event.

John Joseph McGlynn was born October 27, 1963 in Clinton, Iowa, a son of Anthony Joseph and Mary Katherine (Gillooly) McGlynn. He graduated in 1982 from Camanche High School. He then graduated from St. Ambrose University in 1986.

He has been employed by Hormel Foods/LSI, for over thirty-years as a supervisor.

John was united in marriage to Ann Marie Ehlers on July 10, 1999. They had been blessed with over 33-years of friendship and marriage.

He was so proud of his family; he adored his wife and children more than anything in the world. He also had some favorite pastimes, including being a huge sports fan, especially following the St. Louis Cardinals and the Dallas Cowboys; avid Disc Golfer and golfer, beer connoisseur, Pin Ball “Wizard”, bird, plant and music lover, and had participated in over 20 Bix 7 road races. He always looked forward to his annual fishing trip with the guys.

Memorials are suggested to a fund for his kid’s education fund in care of Ann Marie.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Ann Marie, children, Ian, Brody and Ada Marie McGlynn, all at home; his mother, Mary Kay McGlynn, DeWitt, father, Joe (Linda) McGlynn, Camanche, siblings, Kevin McGlynn, Erin (Dave) Eggers, and Nathan McGlynn (Jen Brown); several aunt, uncles, nieces and nephews.
