John Hart

July 6, 1924 — October 10, 2018

Funeral Services and Mass of Christian Burial for John W. “Jack” Hart, 94, of Davenport, will be 11am Monday, October 15, 2018 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, Davenport.  Private burial will be in Rock Island Arsenal Cemetery.  Visitation will be an hour before Mass at the church.

Jack died Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Jack was born July 6, 1924 in Streator, Illinois, the son of Joseph and Justina (Sauer) Hart.  Jack served in the U.S. Army Quarter Master during World War II.  He came to Davenport to attend St. Ambrose College graduating in 1950 with a degree in Economics.  Jack retired from Eagle Food Centers after 25 years of service.

He was united in marriage to Wanda Francis, July 27, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky.  She preceded him in death August 10, 1973.

He married Sue Ellen Farrell, October 10, 1977 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Jack loved spending time with his family and friends.  He cherished his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  Jack was a dedicated Hawkeye, White Sox and Green Bay Packer fan.  He enjoyed traveling, golfing and working in the yard.  Jack was a charter member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church.

Memorials may be made to the Handicapped Development Center.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sue; children, Randy (Rita) Hart, Troy, Illinois, Cathy (Jim) Dierker, Conroe, Texas, Jeff (Pauly) Hart, Leawood, Kansas; stepdaughter, Mindy (Mark) Ferris, Winter Park, Florida; 8 loving grandchildren, James, David, Megan, Melissa, Ryan, George, John and Brittney; 6 great-grandchildren, Jack Henry, Caroline, Abbey, Julia Ann, Erik and Max; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Hart.  He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Wanda, brother, Robert Hart and sisters, Arlene Freese and Rosemary Bakalar.
