John K. Gilmartin

John K. Gilmartin, 24, of Davenport, died Monday, June 5, 2023 in Davenport.  Funeral services to honor John will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 13, 2023 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  The family will greet friends from 4 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday.  Cremation rites will take place following services.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to One-Eighty.

John Kevin Gilmartin was born on September 5, 1998 in Davenport.  John was the son of Mark and Pamela (Kirwan) Gilmartin. 

John was always great around children, with some of our happiest memories of him running around with his younger cousins, or playing with his girlfriend’s daughter, La’el.  Additionally, John’s childlike playful spirit would shine when he was surrounded by animals. Most of all John always providing love to his family dogs, Baxter and Murphy, along with his new dog Benji.

Survivors include his parents, Mark and Pam Gilmartin, Davenport; brother and sister-in-law, Mark and Melissa Gilmartin, nephew, Niall, North Liberty; his girlfriend, Kaylannie Thomas and her daughter La’el Thomas and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, an aunt and two uncles, including his namesake uncle, John Kevin Gilmartin.  May they rest in peace.
