John F. Cronkleton, 60, of Davenport, died Monday, February 27, 2023 at Genesis East, Davenport following a brief illness.
A Memorial Mass to celebrate John’s life will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove with burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 10:30 at church. Memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue, Davenport. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
John Francis Cronkleton was born on September 5, 1962 in Davenport, a son of Lawrence Paul and Mary F. (Freund) Cronkleton. He attended Assumption High School and was a plumber by trade. John was the survivor of a traumatic automobile accident 25 years ago.
When John was younger, he was an athlete and later in life enjoyed watching sports. He had great love in his younger years for motorcycles which progressed from dirt bikes to street bikes and then motorcycles. John loved to feed the squirrels in his backyard and always had corn available to keep their bellies full. He was affectionately known as “Ted” by his friends, short for Teddy Bear, and was “band manager” for his best friend, Eddie Langford’s bands Genie and High Voltage.
Survivors include his children: Ian (Stacie) Cronkleton and Heather (Ramon) Gilroy, all of Lost Nation; grandchildren: Cal, Camden, Kodi Cronkleton, Madison, Sophia, Emmett, and Cooper Gilroy; a brother, Paul Cronkleton, Ocean City, Maryland, an aunt, Jane Cronkleton, Davenport, brother-in-law, Sterling Jones, Ocean City, Maryland, and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents and numerous aunts and uncles including recently his aunt, Sr. Genevieve Freund, BVM. May they rest in peace.
