John Clement, 85, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, September 14, 2024 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 pm, Wednesday, September 18, 2024 at Halligan-McCabe- DeVries Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of service at the funeral home.
John Clement was born September 15, 1938, to Lewis and Mable (Casperson) Clement at Jane Lamb Hospital in Clinton, Iowa.
John graduated from Clinton High School in 1957. After one year of college at Clinton Community College, he went to Iowa State University for two quarters. Then went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree from St. Ambrose University, Davenport, on July 26, 1974. On October 3, 1960, he began working at Ralston Purina Co. and worked for 44 years until his retirement in 2004.
He married Kathy Lakner in a double-wedding ceremony with Leon and Mary (Lakner) Plumb at St. Anne's Catholic Church in East Moline, Illinois September 11, 1965. They were able to celebrate their 59th wedding anniversary but he passed away the day before his 86th birthday.
He enjoyed spending time with his family. Twice a month he played Bingo at the 53rd Street Chick-fil-A where he made many friends. He, also, enjoyed visiting family in California, Florida, and a couple of trips to Europe where Kathy met one of her cousins.
John is survived by his wife , Kathy; his children Debbie, Moline; Paul, W. Virginia; Scott (Esther) New Orleans; granddaughter, Chayse, Bethel Park, Pa; grandson, Archer, who will be adopted by Scott and Esther September 23 after having him since he was 7 days old; and sister Karenann (Bob) Evans, Rio Vista, California.
He was preceded in death by his parents, niece Rebecca Cavagnari and her son, Antonio, nephew Tony Plumb and great niece Taylor Plumb.
The family would like to thank Dr. Anoop Aggarwal and staff for almost three years of chemo treatment for Multiple Myeloma.
