John Bloome, Sr

Visitation for John A. Bloome, Sr, 69, of Norwalk, IA, will be 1-4pm Sunday, January 14, 2018 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport. Graveside services with military honors will be at 9am on Monday, January 15 at the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Those wishing to attend should meet at the funeral home by 8:30am.

Mr. Bloome passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at his home.

John Alan Bloome, Sr. was born January 24, 1948 in Geneseo, IL, a son of Wilbur Francis and Beatrice (Housenga) Bloome. He was united in marriage to Judith L. Bailey on April 11, 1969. He was then united in marriage to Debra J. Kopp on February 16, 1999. She preceded him in death on May 8, 2011.

John was a car enthusiast and enjoyed watching Iowa Hawkeyes Football and “Jeopardy” while hanging out with friends at Cal’s in Norwalk. He loved spending time with his family, following the activities of his grandchildren, and talking about his cat, Abbey.

He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include his children Lisa Jackson and Jay (Heather) Bloome; grandchildren Ariana, Lauren, Lydia, and Tommy, all of Bettendorf; siblings James (Helen) Bloome, Port Byron, IL, Joan (Rollie) Beardsworth and Janis Bloome, all of Loudon, TN; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife, Debra, his parents preceded him in death.
