It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerome Noel from Long Grove, Iowa. Known as Jerry, he was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, who left us peacefully at the age of 86. Jerry was born to Donald and Velvetta Noel of Long Grove. He graduated from DeWitt High School followed by three years serving in the U.S. Army including being stationed in Frankfurt, Germany. After returning to Iowa he met his loving wife, Connie. They married in 1964, and Jerry graduated from Saint Ambrose University in 1965.
Jerry retired from the McLaughlin Body Co. in Moline, IL. He loved spending time surrounded by his family, working outdoors on his farm, and dancing to music. He was a lifelong member of St. Ann’s Catholic parish in Long Grove where he was active in many capacities. He was especially proud of his work on the building committee for the construction of the new church building in 1984.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Connie of 60 years, his seven children, Stephanie (Allen) Tatara, Becky (Scott) Ford, Christine (Chuck) Baguss, Donna (Kurt) Klostermann, Jennifer (Mike) Van Speybroeck, Adam (Adolfo) Noel, and Sarah (Nick) White; his twenty grandchildren, Joe (Jenn) Blum-Tatara, Dan (Tasha) Tatara, Nathan (Emmy) Tatara, Melissa (Kevin) Winters, Brad Ford, Paige (Will) Day, Cecelia Behnke, Lucy Langley, Martha Behnke, George Behnke, Stephen Behnke, Colleen Klostermann, Regina Klostermann, Marie Klostermann, Elizabeth Van Speybroeck, Margaret Van Speybroeck, Mary Van Speybroeck, Eleanor White, Jack White, and Alice White; and nine great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Bill Noel.
The visitation will be held at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Long Grove from 4-7pm on Tuesday, November 12 concluded by a prayer service. The funeral service will be 10:30am on Wednesday, November 13 with visitation beginning at 9:30am. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to St. Ann's Parish or the Alzheimer's Association.
