Jermilyn Trell Gardner, 16, of Davenport passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, Starlite Ballroom. The service will be live-streamed by clicking LivestreamVisitation will be held from 9:00 until the time of service at the Fairgrounds. Memorials may be made to the family. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jermilyn was born on July 17, 2006, a son of Jermaine Gardner and Niah Sanders.
Jermilyn was a warrior, fearless, and a fighter from the beginning. He was very respectful and was the heart of the family, keeping everything together. Jermilyn was the protector of his siblings and was always there for them. He was always willing to challenge himself and would try anything, putting his heart into it 100%. He loved life but his biggest passion was basketball, wanting to be like his older brother. He was a point guard for the West High School Basketball Team and a star athlete. He had played with many teams all over the country, summer leagues and many sports camps.
Those left to honor his memory include his parents, Jermaine Gardner and Niah Sanders; siblings, Jermaine, Ja’Niyah, Ja’Kavion, Jermiliyeon, Malaysia, and Jaden; grandmother Wanda Lewis; grandfather Levell Sanders; best friends Cleo Granberry and Riley Mier; godmother Yolanda Sanders; aunt Keaonna Lewis; uncle Tyrell Sanders; and a host of many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Margaret Coleman, great grandparents Elnora and K.C. Lewis, Joseph D. Sanders and Willie Mae Park-Sanders.
