Jennifer L. “Jen” Scheetz, 53, of Bettendorf, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at her home. She fought bravely until the very end, exemplifying courage, and strength during her 21-month battle.
A visitation will be held at 1pm on Friday, April 5, 2024 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. A celebration of Jen’s life will begin at 5:00 p.m. at the Tanglewood Hills Pavilion, 4250 Middle Road, Bettendorf. Keeping with Jen’s wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. Come to one event, or come to all, we would be honored with your presence. Jen wanted this to be a party that she would want to go to, please help us make that possible as we honor her.
In lieu of any flowers, memorial donations should be made to the family as they will honor Jen by donating to the Lou and Jean Malnati Brain Tumor Institute at Northwestern Medicine.
Jennifer Lynn Nielsen was born on June 4, 1970 in Davenport, a daughter of Jeffery W. and Linda M. (Bartholomew) Nielsen. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1988. She was united in marriage to Thomas Scheetz on May 29, 1992 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Davenport.
The world is a better place, and we are better people because of Jen. She shared her beautiful soul through her gift of love, courage, grit, and her ability to have the most fun. Jen’s world revolved around her family. She was an inspiring mother to her girls, and adored being “Honey” to her grandkids. She loved crafting, scrapbooking, annual Mexico trips, Boat Week, and long drives and days at the pool.
Those left to honor Jen’s memory is her husband, Thom, daughters and sons-in-law, Sarah and Brody Grothus, Tayler and Ryan Fick, all of Bettendorf; grandchildren: Tomi and Tatum Grothus and Peyton and Jace Fick; her mother-in-law, Shirley Miller, her mother, Linda Nielsen, Bettendorf, a brother and a sister.
Jen was preceded in death by her father.
The Scheetz family would like to thank Jen’s medical team at Northwestern as well as Duck Creek Tire, Angerer Eats, the Bettendorf Fire Department, as well as all of the wonderful friends and family that gave so much loving, thoughtful care during Jen’s journey.
