Jeanne Elizabeth Schebler, 83, of Davenport, passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on May 9, 2023 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, Iowa.
Jeanne was born on June 7, 1939 at Rock Island, Illinois, the daughter of Daniel R. and Elizabeth M. (Lohberger) Keeler.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport on Saturday, May 13, 2023, at 11:00 AM. A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, May 12, 2023, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport; there will be a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. There will be an additional visitation at the church from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM prior to the funeral Mass on Saturday. Online condolences may be expressed at www.hmdfuneralhome.com. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, the Catholic Service Board or a charity of your choice.
Jeanne was united in marriage to Thomas G. Schebler at St. Pius X Church in Rock Island, Illinois, on July 21, 1962.
Jeanne was a graduate of the Villa de Chantal High School in Rock Island, Illinois and of Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa. She was student council president at the Villa de Chantal. While at Marycrest she was a member of Kappa Gamma Pi, a national scholastic honor society.
Jeanne was a fourth grade teacher at Jefferson School in Davenport for several years after her graduation from Marycrest.
Jeanne was a member of St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Davenport. She was a longtime member of Chapter IR of the P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Junior League of the Quad Cities, the Junior Board of the Quad City Symphony and the Davenport Junior Theater Board. Jeanne spent many hours volunteering at Cinderella’s Cellar and the Kahl Home on behalf of the Catholic Service Board. She was also a Girl Scout leader for several years. She was a member of the Outing Club in Davenport and a former member of the Davenport Country Club.
Jeanne was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and niece. Her home was the center for family gatherings on Easter, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day for more than 50 years. She provided wonderful holiday meals for her children, grandchildren, parents and other family members. She had many loyal and loving friends. Jeanne’s interests included playing bridge, antiquing, gardening, reading, and traveling. She cherished her trips to Ireland and France and enjoyed attending Quad City Symphony performances.
Jeanne is survived by her husband, Tom, her children, Beth Meza (Jesse), Anne Moore (Jason) and Allison Poulos (Bill). She is also survived by her grandchildren, Savannah Meza, Summer Meza, Madison Moore, Mason Moore and Aidan Poulos, and her sister, Sally Boehmer. She dearly loved her children and grandchildren, and they loved her in return. She was preceded in death by her parents.
