Janet Kuhn “Katie” Krueger was born December 28, 1934, in Sidney, Ohio to Russell and Eleanor Houldsworth. She graduated from the University of Dayton and taught special education.
Katie was introduced to her beloved husband, Louis Krueger, by Louie’s best friend Gerry Faust. They were united in marriage August 8, 1959. They have been blessed with over 58-years of marriage.
After her children were grown, she worked for and retired from the Scott County Auditor’s Office. Katie volunteered at Sacred Heart Catholic Elementary School and church, and served as PTA president.
She was a master chef, foreman, counselor, comedian, caretaker and companion. She loved sitting on her front porch in the sun, and chatting with family and friends. She was a huge Barbara Streisand fan and enjoyed eating popcorn while watching golf with Louie.
Despite multiple strokes, heart attacks, loss of sight and other ailments, she would always respond “I’m great!” when asked and would prefer to hear all about everyone else and their lives. She was a fighter and force of nature. Her body could not keep up with her spirit.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Louie; children and their spouses, Gerri (Ken) Garrison and Polly Okland, all of Davenport, Tim (Michelle) Krueger, Des Moines, Iowa, Dr. John Krueger, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Heidi (Brian) Thomas, Minnetonka, Minnesota; 16 grandchildren, four great grandchildren, a brother, Tim (Harley) Houldsworth, St. Augustine, Florida, and nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Jane Gleason, and a grandson, Kenneth Lee Garrison, Jr.Visits: 34
