James W. “Jim” Fuller, 88, a resident of Davenport, passed away Saturday, February 10, 2018 at Iowa Masonic Home, Bettendorf. Private family services will be held with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.
Jim was born on April 7, 1929 in Rock Island, a son of Alonzo H. and Mary “Helen” (Moran) Fuller. He proudly served our country in the National Guard and served in the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Lorraine “Laurie” Landers on June 9, 1951 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Rock Island. They shared over 66 years of marriage together.
Jim worked for the Quad City Times as the circulation manager and retired after 37 years of service. After his retirement he served as a para-educator at Central and West High Schools in Davenport for over 20 years.
He was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, where he served as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. He enjoyed acting at Playcrafters in Moline, walking, reading, traveling, singing, Bible study, and hiking at Starved Rock State Park in Utica, Illinois.
James is survived by his wife, Laurie, Davenport, children and their spouses: David (Pam) Fuller, Davenport, Daniel Fuller, Camanche, and Julie (Todd) Jones, Davenport, grandchildren: Caleb Fuller, Amber Fuller, Josiah (Andrea) Jones, Bliss Jones, Noah Jones, Eli Jones, and Lillie Jones; great-grandchildren: Camryn and Brooklyn Quick, and a brother, Michael Fuller, Aurora, Colorado.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings; Rev. Jerry Fuller, and Mary Jo Mitchell. May they rest in peace.
