James Evans

James David Evans, 74, of Davenport, passed away, Sunday, December 1, 2024.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Saturday, December 7, 2024 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Per his wishes cremation rites have been accorded. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.

James was born on October 9, 1950 in Davenport, son of Jack and Mary (Chapman) Evans. He was united in marriage to Kathleen Schmutzler on May 1, 1971.

James was blessed to have been married to Kathleen for more than 53 years. In his younger years he enjoyed boating. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Bears, and St. Louis Cardinals. James was an avid golfer and was proud to have made multiple hole-in-ones. He found joy in spending time with his friends and having a cold one. He was also known for being fond of Popcorn Charlies. 

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kathleen; children James (Lucy) Evans, II and Rebecca (Charles) Jones; grandchildren William Evans, Mykayla Evans, Mersaya Platt, Katlyn Platt and Cloey Jones; and great grandchildren Maddalyn Evans and Naomi Evans. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jack.
