Jack A. Schwertman

Jack A. Schwertman, 67, of Davenport, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at Genesis East, Davenport.  A memorial gathering to celebrate his life will be held from 5-7pm on Friday, April 19, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Memorials may be made to Kings Harvest Pet Rescue.

 

Jack Anthony Schwertman was born June 16, 1956, in Davenport, a son of Jack August and Phyllis Jane (Murphy) Schwertman.  He graduated from Bettendorf High School, class of 1975.

 

Prior to his retirement in 2018, Jack had been a meat cutter for Sam’s Club.

 

He loved dogs, especially his Chocolate Lab “Gus”; weekly visits to the casino, and visiting with his friends at his apartment complex.  He will always be remembered for his random acts of kindness and his sense of humor. 

 

Those left to honor his memory include his children Jack Schwertman III of Bettendorf, Jonathan Schwertman of Davenport, Kimberly Sosa of Pico Rivera, CA; stepson Casey (Sarah) Evans of Davenport; grandchildren Nina, Max, Callen, and Jensen; sisters Patrice Johnson of Moline, Mary (Donnie) Metz of Smithfield, PA; brothers Mike (Joyce) Schwertman of Davenport, and Steve Schwertman of Tampa, FL.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents and twin brother Joseph.  May they rest in peace.
