Henry L. "Mickey" Miller Jr

Funeral services celebrating the life of Henry “Mickey” Miller Jr, 96, of Davenport, will be held at 11am on Monday, November 13, 2023, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Burial with military honors will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport.  Visitation will be Monday from 10am until time of services at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mr. Miller passed away Monday, November 6, 2023, at Genesis East, Davenport.

Mickey was born November 21, 1926, in Galesburg, IL, the son of Henry Lewis and Goldine Garnet (Olsen) Miller Sr.  He was united in marriage to Alberta Lanning on September 6, 1947, in Reno, NV.  She preceded him in death on September 18, 2010.

Prior to his retirement he had been a heavy equipment operator for Central Engineering. 

He stayed active into his 90s by golfing, woodworking, mowing his own yard as well as his neighbors, and snow blowing in the winter.  He also enjoyed camping, fishing, gambling, and whistling.

He was a Navy Veteran of World War II, serving on the USS Auburn in her support of the Iwo Jima and Okinawa amphibious landings.

Those left to honor his memory include his daughter Cheryl Miller-Puls of Davenport; grandsons Keegan (Cassie) Puls of Sherrard, Matt Fitzsimmons of Davenport; great grandson Beauxdy Puls; sister Patricia (Carl) Berg of Abingdon, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

Additionally, he was preceded in death by his daughters Sonia Miller and Karen Fitzsimmons, and six sisters.
