Henry "Red" Maurice Johnson passed in Davenport, Iowa on May 28, 2018 at the age of 91.
Private family services will be held at a later date in Minot, North Dakota. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport is assisting the family with arrangements.
Henry was born November 12, 1926 in Minot, North Dakota, the son of Pearly and Phyllis Lillian Johnson. He served our country in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II as a Weatherman. His group, although not selected, was one of the few who were ‘special mission’ trained. He finished the remainder of his stint in the Air Corp commanding an airstrip in Panama. While living in California Henry married Ann "Penny" Kuz. She preceded him in death. An honored veteran called home on Memorial Day, we thank him for his service.
Henry, a beloved career Pharmacist with a thirst for knowledge and helping others; was given community and professional awards acknowledging his life accomplishments. Including: OTC Cert. Orthopedic Brace Fitter, Clinical Electrotherapist, Drug Research- Clinical Trails, Children’s Hospital Poison Information Center, ‘Hawaii Poison Prevention Poster Contest’ Creator (KGMB TV), Governor’s Liaison Sub Area Counsel West Oahu Hawaii. Graduate of: USC, School of Pharmacy, Bible Institute of Hawaii, numerous Cont. Education Classes.
Henry served through Kiwanis (Past Pres. Fullerton & Wahiawa), Elks (CA, HI, IA, Founder & PGER Maui) Toastmasters, Fullerton Chamber of Commerce, Board of Directors Fullerton Youth Museum, Member of the Paradise Clown Club (preformed NB Arena- stopped runaway Elephant), Fellowship of Christian Magicians, S.A.M. as well as a beloved Mall Santa for many wonderful years (Mililani Tn. Center., Pearl Ridge, Ala Moana, Kahala Mall). A Model Railroader from the age of five. He was a believer in GOD, and is redeemed by the Blood, in service to his KING through the Holy Bible.
Those left to honor his memory include his son, Scott Van Johnson of Kauai, Hawaii; Niece, Susan "Suzie" (Allen) Kimi of Oahu; Granddaughters, Jessica Malia (Joseph Darwin) Funk of Fairfield, Iowa; Mohala Dora-Ann Kuihao Johnson of Mississippi; Keolalani Lillian Ahmoi Johnson of Kauai; Kuuleimana Coralin Cy-Kyao Johnson of Oklahoma; Mikiala Patsy-Jean Kee-Lan Johnson of Kauai; Lei'alalani Lianora Malaka Johnson of Wyoming; two Great Grandchildren, William E.B. IV and Lillian Ahmoi B.
Though he is no longer with us physically, his family rejoices in the knowledge that he is loved in the kingdom of glory and has been reunited with his wife, parents, and Daughters; Jill Melody O'Grady and Sherry Ann Johnson.
