Funeral services and Mass of Christian Burial for Helen Dorr, 67, of Davenport, will be held at 10:30 am on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial will be in Oakdale Memorial Gardens, Davenport. Visitation will be 4-6 pm Wednesday at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, with a prayer service at 3:30 pm. There will be additional visitation Thursday at the church from 9:30 am until time of service. Memorials may be made to the Clarissa Cook Hospice House.
Mrs. Dorr passed away Friday, January 10, 2025, at the Clarissa Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Helen Jane Lewis was born October 28, 1957, in Dubuque, one of six children born to Bill and Alice (Fleege) Lewis. She was united in marriage to Dennis Dorr in 1983.
Helen enjoyed helping people and was proud to have been a registered nurse, working at hospitals, hospices, and her church over the course of her career. She also volunteered to shuttle patients to their appointments in Iowa City.
She loved her family and friends and enjoyed organizing events for them to get together.
She enjoyed doing crafts, needlepoint, cooking, and decorating for Christmas. She was a member of the St. John Vianney Prayer Shawl Committee, making shawls to comfort those in need. She was a long suffering fan of the Cubs and Hawkeyes.
Those left to honor her memory include her husband, Denny; son Kevin (Montana) Dorr of Davenport; brother Paul (Ann) Lewis of Broadhead, WI; sister Moni (John) Quinn of Hazel Green, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Celia “Cele” Monahan, Kate Brandel, and brother Robert Lewis.
