Funeral services to celebrate the life of Harold J. Kent, 87, a resident of Davenport, formerly of Savanna, Illinois, will be 11am Thursday, October 25, 2018 at Mt. Moriah Jehovah Jireh Church of God In Christ, 2501 E. Pleasant Street, Davenport, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 9am to 11am at the church. Burial will follow at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the family.
Mr. Kent passed away Saturday, October 20, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme Street, Davenport, Iowa.
Harold Julius Kent was born on March 9, 1931 in Evanston, Illinois, the eldest son of Julius and Mamie (Plummer) Kent. He served our country in the Air Force for over 16 years. Mr. Kent was united in marriage to Faye Brown on August 22, 1964.
After his discharge from the Air Force he owned and operated Kent’s Radio and TV Repair Service in Savanna, Illinois. He had also worked for many years as a technical writer for Sears in the suburban Chicagoland area.
He enjoyed model railroading, fishing, and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears. Mr. Kent also coached girls track at Savanna High School for many years, and had the opportunity to coach his daughter, Cindy.
Survivors include his wife, Faye, Davenport, children: Cynthia (Edward) Kent Sherrod, Fox Point, Wisconsin, David (Angelica) Kent, Davenport, Diane Brown, Harold Kent, Jr., Sheila Kent, Kevin Kent, Andrea Kent, Mildred Sewer, and Brenda Kennon; He was also survived by a host of loving nieces, nephews, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Douglas Kent, Mt. Pleasant, Kansas, and a sister, Kathy Rhodes, Atlanta, Georgia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Collie Valard, and a brother, James Kent.
