Glenn E. Baker

Memorial services celebrating the life of Glenn Eugene Baker, 73, of Davenport, will be held at 1pm on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, at the St. Paul Lutheran Church Chapel, Davenport.  Inurnment will be in the St. Paul Memorial Garden. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Mr. Baker passed away Thursday, February 1, 2024, at Genesis Medical Center-East Campus, Davenport.

Glenn was born January 8, 1951, in Peru, IL, a son of Romeyn “Johnny” and Gloria (Cesario) Baker.  He graduated from Hall High School, class of 1969, and from Western Illinois University in 1974 with a bachelor's degree in education.   He met his future wife, Debra Peterson, through some mutual friends, and they were united in marriage on December 10, 1983, in Davenport.  They had just celebrated their 40^th wedding anniversary.

Glenn was a salesman, first with the Jorgensen Insurance Agency in Davenport, and later with the Keady – Dawson (now Green Buick GMC) car dealership.

He enjoyed watching all sports, golfing, euchre, cribbage, and playing Apples to Apples with his grandchildren.  He enjoyed travelling with his wife Debra and always made sure she was on a beach for her birthday.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Debra; children Corey (Jessie) Baker of West Branch, IA, Leslie Baker of Davenport, Kyle Baker of Davenport; grandchildren Addison, Shawn, Kirsten, Nolan, Kaitlyn, Griffin, Gray, Lilly, Willow; niece Diane Baker of Peru, IL; and nephew Bobby Baker of Peru.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Susan “Suzie” Wiese, and brothers Dale and Dennis.
