Gifford Chambers Jr.

Funeral services celebrating the life of Gifford E. Chambers, Jr, 65, of Davenport, will be 11am Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Visitation will be from 10am until time of service at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport.

Mr. Chambers passed away Monday, January 20, 2020 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Gifford Earl Chambers, Jr, was born December 1, 1954, in Winston, MS, a son of Gifford and Carrie (Gales) Chambers, Sr.  He was united in marriage to Cheryl Robertson in 1991.  She preceded him in death in 2016.

He worked in maintenance for Hilton Hotels and washed cars.

He enjoyed fishing, dancing, singing, cooking, watching westerns and the Chicago Bears, and most of all spending time with his family.

Survivors include his daughters Veronica (Melvin) McDowell, Davenport, Cheryce Chambers, Cedar Rapids; stepchildren Jessica Peterson, Muscatine, Jovanis Robertson, Iowa; four grandchildren; sister Peggy Clark, brother J.L. Chambers; special niece Shernail Clark, all of Davenport; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

In addition to his wife Cheryl, his parents, brothers L.C, Charlie, and Roy Gales, and niece Destiny Orr-Clark, preceded him in death.
