Gerald Edward Lang

Gerald E. Lang, age 69, of Davenport, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at his home. Services will be held at 10:00 am, on Thursday, June 1, 2023 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, May 31, 2023 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.

Gerald was born on August 24, 1953 in Davenport to Joseph and Louise (Munkirs) Lang. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1971. Gerald worked as union iron worker for Local 111, where he also served on the Executive Board. He and his brother continued to operate Joe Lang’s Tap after their father passed away. A business that had been in the family for over 50 years.

In Gerald’s early days, he enjoyed playing the guitar, baseball, softball, and bowling. He loved the outdoors, including fishing and hunting. He often helped his friends and family with projects they had around their homes.

Survivors include his son, Gerald Shawn (Ashley) Lang; granddaughter, Brittany (Brandon Blakey) Lang; great-grandchildren, Aaliyah, Izabelle, and Jayla; a brother, Joe (Diane Dautremont) Lang; a sister-in-law, Debbi Lang; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a brother, Thomas Lang.
