Gerald Leo “Jerry” Huber, age 85 of Davenport, Iowa died of natural causes on Thursday May 7, 2020. He was born on April 23, 1935 in Fort Atkinson, Iowa, the son of Philip and Eleanor (Kuennen) Huber. Jerry graduated from Fort Atkinson High School in 1953 and served in the National Guard. Jerry loved cars and driving which turned into a 50-year career of driving trucks. He was known for the stories of his adventures on his long haul trucking routes. He also loved playing cards, (euchre, 500 and cribbage) and visiting with his buddies at the casinos.
Jerry is survived by his siblings: Merle (Carole) Huber of Pittsburg, MO, Irene (Jim) Leuenberger of Shawano, WI, Dave (Cynthia) Huber of St. Paul, MN, Karen Straw of Lawler, IA and his brother-in-law, Ron Buchheit, Festina, IA. He is also survived by his sister-in-law, Jane Huber of Davenport, IA, his niece, Jan Huber and nephew, Dan Huber who looked after him in the last few years of his life. Other survivors include his nieces and nephews, Dean (Claudia) Huber, Lori (Jim) Garrard, Angie Landoll, Amy (Brad) Diehl, Todd Huber, Craig (Stacy) Straw, Jennifer (Craig) Kurtenbach, Cynthia (Brandon) Uhlenberg and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Philip and Eleanor Huber, his sister, Bernice Buchheit of Festina, Iowa, brother, Leo Huber of Davenport, IA, and his brother-in-law, Edward Straw of Lawler, Iowa.
A memorial service and burial was held at the St. John Nepomucene Catholic Cemetery in Fort Atkinson, Iowa with immediate family.
