George W. Erickson

            George W. Erickson, 86, a resident of Davenport, died Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Good Samaritan Society in Davenport.

            Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2022 at Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home in Davenport. A prayer service will follow at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Carmelite Monastery.

            George was born September 20, 1935 in Fort Dodge, Iowa the son of George Chester “Chet” and Ruby (Westrum) Erickson. George graduated from South Dakota State University with a bachelor’s degree in business. He married Karen M. O’Connell, November 28, 1959. She preceded him in death, September 14, 2017.

            George was a sales representative with Standard Oil before purchasing Black Hawk Standard. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling, golfing and playing pool and pickleball. George cherished spending time with his family and treasured his new great-granddaughter, Alaina.   

Those left to honor his memory include his children, David Erickson, Cave Creek, AZ, Susan (John) Sparks, Davenport, and Sara Viktora, Greenfield, WI; grandchildren, Aubrey Erickson, Erick (Shelby Shepherd) Sparks, Emily Sparks, Matthew McCollom, Olivia Viktora and Joseph Viktora; and great-granddaughter, Alaina Sparks.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Christopher Erickson; daughter-in-law, Corrine Erickson; and siblings, Ica Rose Miller and Leif Erickson.
