Geneva Rose King was born July 23, 1928, in St. Patrick, Mo, a daughter of William Patrick and Nellie Josephine (McDermott) King. She was united in marriage to James B. Wiegand in 1948 in St. Patrick.
Geneva was primarily a homemaker but had also worked for Shaffer Pen Co, Montgomery Ward, Younkers, and as a companion and caregiver.
Her family will always remember that even though she had a large family, she always made time for each of them and made sure they knew they were important and loved. No birthday was complete until she sang “happy birthday” to you. She was the coolest, smartest, and wisest woman on the planet. She never met a stranger, and she is loved beyond words.
Survivors include her children Mary (Paul) Fredenburg, James W. Wiegand, Jeffery (Judy) Fleming – Wiegand, all of Davenport, Monica (Craig) Hilgenberg, Cedar Rapids, Christopher Threlkeld – Wiegand, Iowa City; grandchildren Joshua, Aaron, Michelle, Matthew, Alissa, Barbara, Michael, Darren, Carey and Ryland; great grandchildren Geneva, CJ, Ava, Hazel, Harper, Elizabeth, Corrina, Mana, Enzo, Nieve, Daphne; sisters Kathleen Hesse, Rock Island, and Marge Linehan, Davenport.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters Callie Boudreau, Mary Janelle Jones, her brother Patrick, grandson PJ Fredenburg, and granddaughter Elizabeth Wiegand.
