Gary L. Strassburger, 75, of Davenport, died Monday, January 11, 2021 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Keeping with Gary’s wishes, there will be no services and burial took place in Davenport Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Gary Louis Strassburger was born on August 11, 1945 in Davenport, a son of Louis L. and Jeanne E. (McCannon) Strassburger. He was a union brick layer in the Quad Cities and a foreman on many big construction sites during his career.
Gary was united in marriage to Debra J. Kelly on February 11, 2005 in Davenport.
Gary had a passion for classic cars, he enjoyed restoring and showing his cars at shows. He enjoyed taking train trip vacations with his wife Deb across the country. His canine companion, Duke, brought him a lot of joy.
Survivors include his wife, Debra; grandsons: Joshua Moore and Joey (Tara) Nemitz, two great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Charlie Franklin; a niece, Julie Smith, and her son, Max; and a nephew, Chris Franklin
Gary was preceded in death by his daughters, Amie Nemitz and Kelly Strassburger, his parents, and siblings: Dale Strassburger and Nora “Beanie” Franklin.
A special thank you to Genesis Hospice, especially Denise for the loving compassionate care of Gary and special friends, Mike (Sue) Hamilton, Larry (Pam) Cheek, Danny (Anne) Burroughs, Karen Inglis, and Mary for all the years of friendship.
