Gary Lee Skarda

Funeral services celebrating the life Gary Lee Skarda, 80, of Davenport, will be held at Noon on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Visitation will be from 11am until time of services. Per his request the rite of cremation will follow services and inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the family.

Mr. Skarda entered into heaven on Tuesday, October 8, 2024, at his home. 

Gary was born November 4, 1943, in San Francisco, a son of Robert and Wilma (Stallcup) Skarda and moved to Montana at the age of two. He graduated from Stanford (MT) High School, class of 1961, and then attended Montana State. 

He met the love of his life and his one and only wife Nadine Cudmore in Davenport in 1966. They were united in marriage in 1968 in Rock Island and she preceded him in death on June 11, 2001.

As a young man he worked as a construction worker that allowed him to travel to many different states something that he really enjoyed. He retired from Oscar Mayer in 1998 after 31 years of service.

He was the father of Sonya (Ezequiel) Villarreal of Dickinson, Texas and Lydia (Antonio) Ventura of Davenport, Dean (Patty) Trout of Davenport; grandfather to 26 grandchildren and 44 great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his father Robert Skarda and mother Wilma Riek, brother Richard Skarda, son Patrick Skarda, daughters Helen Miranda, Lavere Nunez, Sharon Brandon, son Terry Trout, and great grandson Ezequiel Francis.
