Davenport- Funeral services to celebrate the life of Gary W. Mayfield, Sr., 63, of Davenport, will be 12 p.m. Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport. Private burial will take place at a later date. The family will greet friends from 11 a.m. until noon Tuesday at the funeral home. Gary died Thursday, June 6, 2019.
Gary Wayne Mayfield, Sr. was born on November 6, 1955 in Monroe City, Missouri, a son of James O.D. and Daisy Maxine (Scott) Mayfield, Sr. He graduated from Davenport Central High School. Gary served in the United States Army for 16 years and fought in Desert Storm. Gary married Diane Eggleston on December 21, 1986 in Kankakee, Illinois.
Gary had worked as an over the road truck driver.
Gary is survived by his wife, Diane (Eggleston) children: Gary W. (Amber) Mayfield, Jr., Davenport, Chris Mayfield, Davenport, Delmiro Eggleston, Bloomington, Illinois, Julian Mayfield, Rock Island, RaShawn Jackson, Rock Island, Shatika Williams, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Lerita Clay, Davenport, Amber Holcomb, Davenport, Keisha Mayfield, Rock Island, and Iesha Eggleston, Rock Island; siblings: James Mayfield, Jr., Davenport, Clyde (Julie Martens) Mayfield, Davenport, Keith Mayfield, Davenport, Nichole Mayfield Pettie, Davenport, and Sandra (Orville) Minter, all of Monroe City, Missouri.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Richard Smith, a daughter, Charanda Eggleston, and brothers: Sebon Mayfield, Marion Mayfield, and Carl Mayfield.
