Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Gail Louise Olsen, 76, of Davenport, will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 29, 2023 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The services will be livestreamed at the bottom of this page. Burial will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Wednesday from 9:30 until 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the King’s Harvest Pet Rescue Center or the St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Gail Louise Ellison was born on July 12, 1947 in Davenport, a daughter of Harold W. and Doris (Clifton) Ellison. She graduated from West High School in 1965 and later A.I.C. She was united in marriage to Thomas J. Olsen on June 25, 1966 at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport.
Gail worked as a medical assistant for various groups including Dr. Susan Perry and Greene Memorial Hospital in Xenia, Ohio.
Gail had a heart of gold, she was a great mother, and lived for her grandchildren. She was the glue that kept her family together. She was also an excellent caregiver, caring for her parents and father-in-law and brother-in-law. She enjoyed playing bingo, especially with her dear friend, Beverly Ferguson. She was a longtime member of C.A.S.I. and a breast cancer survivor. Gail was awarded many blue ribbons during the 56 years of participation at the Mississippi Valley Fair for her culinary talents.
Survivors include her husband, Tom; children: Donna Olsen, Michael (Ronda) Olsen, Eric Olsen, and Laurie Brown, all of Davenport; grandchildren: Aaron (Alyssa), Hannah, Kaitlyn, Keenan (Jenny) ; and great-grandchildren: Grayson, Luka, Remi, Talon, and one on the way; siblings: Patricia (Chuck) Holm, LeClaire Iowa, Marjorie Spehar, Grand Junction Colorado, Debbie (Joe) Banaszek, DePere Wisconsin, LaVonne Banaszek, Swisher Iowa and Connie (Terry) Lucky, DeWitt Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.
Gail was preceded in death by a grandson, Brandon Jobst, her parents, and brother-in-law, Ron Olsen.
