Frank Hunter, 79, a resident of Bettendorf, died Thursday, November 30, 2017 at the Kahl Home following a brief illness. He was surrounded by his loving family at the time of his passing. The family will greet friends Friday, December 8, 2017, from 4:00 until 7:00 pm at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, 614 Main Street, downtown Davenport. A private funeral service and Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park.
Frank Hunter was born January 15, 1938 in Antigo, Wisconsin, a son of Jacob and Clara (Proft) Hunter. He graduated from Northland College with degrees in History and Education. He earned a Masters of Education degree from UW Superior.
He was united in marriage to Kaarin Spearbraker on December 26, 1964 in Antigo, Wisconsin. They celebrated over 52 years of marriage.
Frank was an underwriter in the insurance industry for many years. He was a kind, kind man; he had a deep love for his family. He loved watching his kids and grandkids succeed in all their sports and activities. He was a man of great faith and was a former member of Sacred Heart Cathedral. Frank was a #1 Packer and Badger fan!
Memorials may be made to the Kahl Home.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Kaarin; children, Clare (Andy) Thompson and Lora (Brad) Hayes, all of Bettendorf, Jacob (Rebecca) Hunter and Janelle (Scott) Stieger, all of Davenport and Kaarin (Dick) Bakeris, Bettendorf; grandchildren, Megan, Jake, Charlie and Lucas Hayes, Cole and Drake Hunter, Owen, Joey, Mikey and Lucy Stieger and Race, Oliver and Brady Bakeris; a brother, Jim (Mary) Hunter, Pewaukee, Wisconsin; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 sisters and 8 brothers. May they rest in peace.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the staff and Sisters of the Kahl Home, Genesis Hospital and Genesis Hospice for their compassionate and loving care.
