Frances Mayeski

Frances (Gelven) Mayeski, of Bettendorf, passed away, Monday, February 26, 2024 at Friendship Manor. A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:00 am, on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Rock Island. Burial will take place at National Cemetery, Rock Island. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.

 Fran was born on November 6, 1941 in Rolla, Missouri.  Prior to retiring in 2008, Fran was a national educational and organizational consultant. In addition to her bachelor’s degree from St. Louis University, she had a masters in business administration from City University, Seattle and a doctorate in education leadership from Nova University, Ft. Lauderdale, Florida

 Her 44 years of service on education included being a classroom teacher, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, Director of Staff Development, Director of Field Services for an education laboratory and working with school districts to enhance student achievement.

 Since moving to the Quad Cities in 2008, Fran was active in Area Welcome Club and St. Margaret’s Guild, St. John Vianney.

 Fran is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Kim Mayeski and two granddaughters, Madelyn and Maya of Bettendorf, and 10 nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Katherine Gelven, and two sisters, Margaret Louise Degnan and Mary Catherine Beatty.
