Eva M. Burge

Eva Burge, 88, of Davenport passed away, Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at The Kahl Home. 

Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 10:00 am at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church. Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 6:00 pm Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Alphonsus Catholic Church or to the PKD Foundation.

Eva was born on March 30, 1936 in Massena, New York, daughter of Domonic and Sarah Pellegrino. She was united in marriage to Robert Burge on July 19, 1958. He preceded her in death on August 8, 2008.

She began her employment at Alcoa and later Davenport Community Schools and MCI. Eva was very active in her children’s activities. She was a leader in many youth activities and any clubs involving her children. She taught many family members how to use the sewing machine. Eva was also a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church and was involved with the Altar & Rosary Society, the quilting circle and the church choir. She participated in the 2016 Transplant Games of America bringing home a gold medal in the 1500 meter race walk. 

Above all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren and cherished her time she spent with them.

Those left to honor her memory include her children John (Katie) Burge, Peggy Scott, Mark Burge, and Eric Burge; grandchildren Matthew Burge (Henry Qian), Megan (Luke) Moses, Nicole Burge, Michelle (Nick) Eisenbacher, Alex Scott, and Elizabeth Scott; 5 great grandchildren; and siblings Fred (Lorraine) Pellegrino, Peter Pellegrino, and Paul Pellegrino.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings Carmela Burnell, Larry Pelligrino and Richard Pellegrino and grandson Anthony Burge.
