Ethel C. "Red" Howard

Ethel C. “Red” Howard, 73, of Davenport, died Friday, December 23, 2023 at Good Samaritan, Davenport.  Keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place and there will a celebration of Ethel’s life at a later date. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue. 

Ethel Catherine Stahle was born on January 14, 1950 in Bettendorf, a daughter of Charles O. and Ethel C. (Umbdenstock) Stahle. 

She worked at the Steeplegate Inn for over 15 years.

Red enjoyed crafting, painting, putting puzzles together, and taking in stray cats!  She also enjoyed attending grandchildren events and rooting for the Miami Dolphins.

Those left to honor her memory are her children: Wayne Howard, Vancouver, Washington, Dawn (Mark Sloan) Picolet, Davenport, Tison Howard, Davenport, and James (Kelly Tiesman) Jones, Davenport; eleven grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Janet Wendhausen, Bettendorf and many nieces and nephews.

Red was preceded in death by a special friend, Kevin P. Kelly, her parents, and siblings, Margaret Mackin, Dolores Shima, and Jerry Stahle.
