Erik Cole Griebel, 24, of Davenport, formerly of Iowa City, died February 5, 2018 unexpectedly from complications of a viral heart infection at University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Erik will be Saturday, February 10, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 E. 10th Street, Davenport, Iowa. Visitation is Saturday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Gathering Space at the Cathedral. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
Erik was born on January 11, 1994 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin the son of Kurt and Sandy (Williams) Griebel. He was a graduate of Iowa City West High School and attended Kirkwood Community College. He was employed by Dick’s Sporting Goods in Davenport.
Erik had a terrific sense of humor. He loved music, history, sports, family, friends and Taco Bell. He had a kind and gentle way about him. He cherished his recovery community. Erik will be forever loved, never forgotten and greatly missed.
Survivors include parents Kurt and Sandy Griebel; siblings Ryan and Anna Griebel; Grandmother Patricia Griebel; Grandparents Keith and Jean Williams; Great Aunt Kay (Bill) Schroeder, Aunts and Uncles Jeff Griebel, Jay (Debbie) Griebel, Brian Griebel, Donna (Kris) Lawrence, Julie (Dennis) Bockenstedt, Nancy Williams and cousins. He was preceded in death by Grandfather Donald Griebel.
