Elly Brody

Funeral services celebrating the life of Elly Brody, 74, of Davenport, will be held at Noon on Monday, May 1, 2023, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport.  Burial will follow at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.  Visitation will be Monday from 10am until the time of services at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Mrs. Brody passed away Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Unity Point, Bettendorf.

Elly was born January 2, 1949 in Davenport, the daughter of Henry and Helen (McGinn) Jacobsen.  She graduated from Davenport Central High School, class of 1967.  She met her future husband Leonard “Len” Brody at an Eagles Club when she not only stole his raffle ticket, but his heart as well.  They were united in marriage on October 7, 1978, in Davenport.

Prior to her retirement she had been a clerk for Cardiovascular Medicine. 

She loved to play Bingo, going to yard sales, animals (especially Eeyore), family trips to Adventureland, and helping those in need. 

Those left to honor her memory include her husband Len; children Christina Claussen of Davenport, Joe (Nichole) Farnum of Davenport, Jennifer Whitehead of Bettendorf; bonus daughter Sheila Hendricksen of Davenport; grandchildren Cody, Andrew, Justin, Warren, Derek, Jessilyn, Woody, Summar (Darien), Cameran, Danielle, Paige, Angel, Shelby, Alyssa, Marissa, Shawna, Larry; four great grandchildren; and twin brother Everett (Carla) Jacobsen of Cordova, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, grandson Jacob, great granddaughter Hailey, and brother Hank.
