Elaine Boyd

Davenport – Elaine M. (Nares) Boyd, 60, a resident of Davenport passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, November 7, 2017. Per her wish, cremation rites were accorded. A celebration of her life will be held at Noon on Saturday, November 18, at Our Lady of Victory Church, 4105 N Division St, Davenport, IA. Following the service, a luncheon will be held at Knights of Columbus at 1111 W 35th St.

Elaine Nares was born January 18, 1957 in Davenport, a daughter of James and Annette (Steffensmeier) Nares. She was a graduate of Assumption High School, class of 1975 and also earned a degree in Computer Science from St. Ambrose College. She previously worked at John Deere before retiring.

Elaine loved being a mother; she and her daughter did everything together. It was always Elaine and Amber.

Elaine loved celebrating holidays, especially Christmas which included shopping for gifts starting the day after Christmas, making homemade candy and cookies, and her large snowman collection. She loved her parakeets Buddy and Holly; Gardening; cooking, playing cards and board games with family and friends.

Elaine was an advocate for the Girl Scouts. She was a Girl Scout Troop Leader; Service Unit Director; Gold and Silver Award Advisor; and Cadette Congress Advisor. She touched many lives through Girl Scouts and as a Bix Volunteer.

Survivors include her daughter Amber M. Boyd, mother, Annette Nares; sisters, Sandy (Peter) Braun, Teri Nares; brother, Tom Nares; nephew, Jeff Braun; niece, Jenny Braun; and great-nephews, Noah Johnson, Owen Braun and Nathan Braun. She was preceded in death by father, James Nares; and brother, Mike Nares.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Amber Boyd.
