Duane L. Sparbel, 79, of Silvis, and formerly of Davenport, passed away Monday, October 28, 2024, at MercyOne Genesis in Silvis. Per his wish the rite of cremation will be accorded, and services will be held privately. Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport, is assisting the family.
Duane Lewis Sparbel was born February 12, 1945, in Davenport, the youngest child of Harry Robert and Bonnie Maxine (Bolwar) Sparbel. He was united in marriage to Vivian Allison on August 1, 1963, in Davenport and later to Debra “Deb” (Boggs) Beller in 2002.
Duane was a cement finisher for over 30 years and was the owner of D.L. Sparbel Concrete.
He was hard working and never sat still. He could usually be found putzing around in his garage, working on cars and fixing things while listening to country music or watching NASCAR races. In his earlier years he raced stock cars at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds.
Those left to honor his memory include his son Brian (Margo) Sparbel of Milan, IL; granddaughters Kirsten and Kaitlyn Sparbel; stepchildren Christopher (Amy) Beller, Brandon (Almalyn) Beller; and step grandson Kayden Beller.
He was preceded in death by his wife Deb; parents; and siblings Mary Lou Sparbel, Joy Christopher, Kay Reque, and Donald Sparbel.
