Dr. Mary Ann Waterstreet, 74, of Rock Island, died Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at her home.
Funeral services to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 25, 2024 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Private entombment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Ambrose Psychology Department or St. Anthony’s Church Care and Share Program.
Dr. Mary Ann Waterstreet was born on January 21, 1950 in Chicago, Illinois, daughter of Dr. William Neal and Agnes (Stanley) Waterstreet. She graduated from the Villa de Chantel in Rock Island and continued her education throughout her life, earning her bachelors at St. Ambrose, her masters at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and later her doctorate degree in psychology from the University of Georgia.
Dr. Mary Ann Waterstreet was a professor of psychology at St. Ambrose University for over 30 years, retiring in 2019. She was constantly studying and researching new areas of psychology and attending conferences around the world.
Those left to honor her memory are her siblings: Bill Waterstreet, Atlanta, Georgia, John (Carol) Waterstreet, Dallas, Texas, and Dr. Aggie (Ray Ambrose) Waterstreet, Davenport, Iowa; nieces and nephews: Neal (Ola) Waterstreet, Chris (Susan) Waterstreet, Jack (Abby) Waterstreet, Meghan (Gary) Kittilsen, Danielle Waterstreet, Courtney Waterstreet and Ray Ambrose IV; great nieces: Lyla, Deckyr, Anelia, Mary Claire; great nephews: Liam, Marek, Henryk, Jack, Duke, Daxx, Nolan, and Emmitt and her end-of-life caregivers: Kim and Mikayla Gilbertson, Selah Anigbo, Mary (Jordan, Jason, Bristol, and Brooklyn) Ramsey, Jenny Lofquist, and Becky Junker.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Margaret Waterstreet and her sister-in-law, Glenda Waterstreet. May they rest in peace.
