Dorothy "Dodie" Poplar

Dorothy “Dodie” Poplar, 64, of Davenport, passed away Saturday, December 14, 2024, at her home following a battle with cancer. Per her request cremation will be accorded and no services held. In lieu of flowers or memorials, please do something nice for someone.

Dorothy May Porter was born October 10, 1960, in Pensacola, FL, the daughter of Michael and Jo Ann (Covert) Porter. She was united in marriage to Thomas Poplar Sr on February 23, 2012. He preceded her in death on November 16, 2013. She found the love of her life in Donald “Lee” Broderson, and they were engaged to be married.

Prior to her retirement, Dodie had worked for Sears Manufacturing for over 20 years. Starting on the floor and working her way up into the accounting department.

Dodie was a generous, considerate, and giving person who always put others first. She loved her family deeply and enjoyed the time spent with them, especially her children and grandchildren.

Those left to honor her memory include her fiancé Lee Broderson of Davenport; children Tonya (Tony) Linnabery of Silvis, Ginger Smith of Rock Island, twins Tamera Castel of Coal Valley and Tanner Castel of Eldridge; grandchildren Tristan, Trevor, Tyler, Logan, Noah, Greyson, Brooklyn, and Avery; great grandson Mateo; brothers Mike (Mary) Porter of Lilliam, AL, and Tim (Wendy) Porter of Milan, IL.

Additionally, she was preceded in death by her parents.
