Doris I. King

Funeral services celebrating the life of Doris King, 91, of Davenport, will be held at 11:30 am on Wednesday, October 16, 2024, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. The livestream may be viewed, and online remembrances expressed at www.hmdfuneralhome.com. Burial will follow in Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 11 am until time of services. Memorials may be made to the McAnthony’s Window

Mrs. King passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

Doris Irene Phillips was born September 1, 1933, in Pound, VA, a daughter of Benjamin “Ben” and Floy (Mullins) Phillips. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Kernel “Buddy” King on January 12, 1953, in Whitesburg, KY. He preceded her in death on November 3, 2011.

Prior to her retirement, she had worked for the former Red Jacket Manufacturing Company in Davenport.

Doris enjoyed crocheting, traveling, going to church, reading her Bible, and loved to clean!

Those left to honor her memory include her children Faye Infante, Carolene (Don) Quick all of Davenport, Bud (Lanette) King of Milford, OH; eight grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; sister Ella (Frank) Cromer of Riner, VA, brothers Hoyt (Linda) Phillips of Blacksburg, VA, Kenneth (Shirley) Phillips of Elioa, KY; and many loving nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by infant children Gary and Alecia, five sisters and four brothers. May they rest in peace.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Amy and her family for taking care of Doris.
