Doris Brandts

Doris A. Brandts, 90, of Blue Grass, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.  A private family celebration of her life will take place in the future.  Memorials may be made to saddlebredrescue.com or tunnel2towers.org

Doris was born on August 23, 1930 in Ankeny, Iowa, a daughter of Newton and Florence (Newell) Packard. She was united in marriage to Wilhelm J. “Bill” Brandts in 1953.  He preceded her in death on March 17, 2009.  Doris assisted Bill in their business General Diesel Sales and Service in Blue Grass until they sold it in 1996.

Doris had a great passion for horses, raising them and riding them most of her adult life.  She also enjoyed gardening and reading.  She was a member of the Christian Science Church.

Doris is survived by her children: Kristina (Ken) Nelson, Blue Grass, Heidi Smith, Parker, Colorado, Katherina Brandts, Blue Grass; daughter-in-law, Jill Brandts, Monument, Colorado, Brian (Amber) Donegan, Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; son-in-law, Bob Smith, Parker, Colorado; grandchildren: Michelle, Keith, Kelly (Stephanie), Cole, Camille, Christopher; great-grandchildren: Isaac and Audrey; siblings: David (Andrea) Packard, Des Moines, and Virgil (Lisa) Packard, Cottonwood, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Josef, her parents, and siblings: Glen, Roy, Raymond, and Letty.
