Donna J. Ashby, 74, of Lowden, passed away, Friday, August 19, 2022 at her home surrounded by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm, Tuesday, August 23, 2022 in the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries All Faith Chapel. The service will be livestreamed by clicking the following link: LIVESTREAM Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 pm, Monday, August 22, 2022 in the funeral home. Burial will be in Dixon Cemetery, Iowa. Memorials may be made to her family.
Donna was born on June 7, 1948 in Iowa, daughter of Donald Eugene and Anna Marie (Schadel) Brammann. She married Kyle Puckett and they later divorced. They remained friends and reunited in 2017 until his passing in April 2022. She was united in marriage to Russel Ashby on October 2, 1987 in Las Vegas. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2013.
Donna retired from CDS after 16 years of service. She was also a bartender at Chucks Tap for many years, Slabys in Plainview, the later the Dixon Legion. After retirement Donna worked at Family Foods Bakery until her cancer diagnosis. Donna was known for her kind and generous ways and her big smile. She wasn’t afraid to give a hug when she met someone new. She loved entertaining and family gatherings. She enjoyed being outdoors and took pride in her flowers and yard. She loved life and the many trips she was able to take to Florida with her family. She was a huge Vikings and Hawkeye fan. Above all, she loved her family, her dogs, and the time she spent with them.
Survivors include, children Scott (Caroline) Puckett, Dawn (Scott Clark) Pitts, and Taurus Puckett; grandchildren, Rachel Joens, Hanna Pitts, Logan Pitts and Lexi Pitts; great grandchildren Aiden Scott, Alyssa Barnard, Dawson Barnard, Lenora Barnard and Piper Joens of Alabama; brother Steve Brammann; companion Joe; and many cousins, nieces, nephew and special friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Russell, grandson Cory Joens on March 25, 2021, brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Ellen Brammann and special aunts and uncles.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Julie Mae and Karen Mae for being there with Donna's children everyday those last 12 days at home to help with hospice care. Also to Deb Razor for taking care of our moms beloved Fur Baby TipTip that she loved so very much. Your loving kindness will never be forgotten.
