Donald Holmes

Graveside services for Donald Frederick Holmes, 60, a resident of Davenport, will be 1p.m. Thursday, November 15, 2018 at Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport.  Visitation will be from 12 until 12:45 p.m. Thursday at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport.  Mr. Holmes passed away unexpectedly Monday, November 12, 2018 at his home.

Donald Frederick Holmes was born on July 9, 1958 in Caribou, Maine, a son of Pearl Devona Holmes.  Known as Freddy or Donny to his friends, he worked many jobs including as a dishwasher and bell ringer.

He enjoyed putting puzzles together and reading books, especially thrillers by Stephen King.

Freddy is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Henry and Anna Holmes, Rock Island, a niece, Jeanette (Danielle) Holmes; nephews, Joshua LaFrancois (Carole Russell), and Jacob LaFrancois (Ashley Wheaton), many loving great nieces and nephews, and a special friend Brian Shepherd.

He was preceded in death by his mother Pearl, and a niece Cassandra Holmes.
