Don L. Shipley

Donald Lee Shipley, 79, of Davenport, died Saturday, March 4, 2023 at Good Samaritan Center, Davenport.  Funeral services to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 9, 2023 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport beginning with a Masonic Service followed by a Christian Service.  Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.  Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the family.

Don was born on November 13, 1943 in Longmont, Colorado, a son of Lucille (Cook) and Glen Shipley.  He attended North Scott Schools.  Don married Janet L. Showens in 1962.  Together they had three sons, George, Ronald, and David.  She died in 1987.  Don married Joyce “Joye” Radcliff in 1993. 

Don was an over the road truck driver for many years.

His is survived by his wife, Joye, Walcott, son, Ronald (Jennifer) Shipley, Arizona, his siblings: Carolyn Cohoon, Liberty Center, Iowa, and Patricia Johannsen, Rock Falls, Illinois and Beverly Sederstrom, and James (Barbara) Shipley, all of Davenport, Joye’s children: Buffie (Chuck), Linda (Rodney) Beth (Brian) and Larry (Kim), numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife Janet, Don was preceded in death by his sons George and David, and his parents.
