Dolores Burmeister

Davenport, Iowa

Dolores Burmeister, “Mrs. B”, of Davenport, passed away on March 23, 2024, at Unity Point-Bettendorf surrounded by her family. Visitation will be Monday, April 1, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home with a rosary recited at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am, Tuesday April 2, 2024, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 422 East 10th Street, Davenport, with visitation an hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to the Humility of Mary Services, or your favorite charity.

 Dolores Ann was born on November 12, 1929, to George and Lucille Christiansen in Davenport. She later married Howard M. Burmeister Jr., on November 20, 1948, until he passed on August 15, 1999. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1948. She immediately went to work at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company as a telephone operator, retiring in 1983 after 35 years of service.

 Dolores was a member of the CWA local, Telephone Pioneers, and 21 Club. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Christiansen Mothers, and prior to the church closing she served as President. She always enjoyed volunteering as a Pink Lady at Genesis West, delivering mail and flowers to the patients.

 Dolores stood by her husband in various organizations. Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 2, Military Order of the Purple Heart Unit 117 Auxiliary. She was also one of the members of the Knights of Columbus, Loras Council 532 Auxiliary.

 Her greatest joy was spending time with family, especially her grandchildren.

 Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Daniel Walsh; grandchildren, Jacob, Sarah, and Lucas Walsh, all of Davenport; and many nieces and nephews.

 In addition to her husband, Dolores was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Darrell Dodge, and aunts and uncles.
