Dolores J. Bailey, 91, of Bettendorf, formerly of Davenport and Mesa, Arizona, died Sunday, February 23, 2025 at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.
Memorial services to celebrate Mrs. Bailey’s life will be 10 a.m. Thursday, March 6, 2025 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Davenport. The family will greet friends for an hour prior to the service in the gathering space at church. Burial will be in the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Institute for Vision Research through the University of Iowa Center for Advancement.
Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dolores June Hebeler was born on July 12, 1933 in Davenport, a daughter of Marvin and Evelyn (Andersen) Hebeler. She was united in marriage to Frank R. Bailey on November 5, 1955 in Davenport. He preceded her in death on November 14, 2013.
Dolores worked for Northwestern Bell/ATT/Lucent Technologies first as an operator and later as a sales rep in the business office. She retired in 1984.
Dolores had a passion for music, learning how to play the piano at a young age and playing until her eyesight declined. She also enjoyed camping with Frank as well as spending 35 years in Arizona.
Those left to honor her memory are her children: Christine Rettenmaier, Missouri, Mark (Jody) Bailey, Davenport, and Catherine Marxen, Missouri; 10 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild; siblings: David (Mary) Hebeler, Davenport, Dennis “Jimmy” Hebeler, Florida, and Debbie Cox, Davenport and several very special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, and siblings: Donald (Carolyn) Hebeler, Diana (Don) Reins, and Doris (Ken) Shehorn, and a brother-in-law, Alfred Cox.
