Richard H. “Mr. Booth” “Dick” Booth, died Friday, April 25, 2025 at The Summitt, Bettendorf surrounded by family on his 91st birthday.
A time to gather to celebrate the life of Mr. Booth will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2025 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Private family burial will take place with military honors at the Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. Memorials may be made to King’s Harvest Pet Rescue.
Richard Harold Booth was born on April 25, 1934 in Marcus, Iowa, a son of Forrest E. and Mildred M. (Rothlisberger) Booth. He graduated from Marcus High School and then Wayne State College in Nebraska. He later graduated from the University of Northern Colorado at Greeley with his Masters degree. He proudly served our country in the Army and cheered hard for Army during the annual Army/Navy football game.
Dick was united in marriage to Mary Beth (Stoops) Banks on April 10, 1990 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They shared over 35 years of marriage together.
Mr. Booth taught in Lost Nation for four years before beginning a 30 years career teaching social studies and coaching football at Smart Junior High School. He retired in 1995.
Dick was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and St. Louis Cardinals. He enjoyed running and later in life biking. Dick also had a great love of animals, especially dogs.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Mary Beth, Davenport; stepchildren: Todd (Beth) Banks, Howell, Michigan and Jennifer (Scott) Nicely, Davenport; grandchildren: Hannah Nicely and Connor Logan; a sister, Carole (Kenny) McQueen, Omaha, Nebraska, and nephews, Todd (Barb) McQueen and Scott McQueen.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
