Funeral Services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Dennis Dolan, 86, a resident of Bettendorf for 59 years, and recently of Grand Haven in Eldridge, will be 11 am, Friday, January 24, 2025, at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, Bettendorf. Burial will be at National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Visitation will be from 9:30 until time of services at the church. Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project.
Mr. Dolan passed away Monday, January 20, 2025, at the Kahl Home, Davenport.
Dennis Edward Dolan was born January 8, 1939, in Davenport, a son of Joseph and Yvelle (Neilssen) Dolan. He graduated from the former St. Ambrose Academy and enlisted in the Air Force in 1957. He was seriously injured after only serving four months and was honorably discharged in 1959. He was united in marriage to Josephine “Josie” Valle on April 23, 1960, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, Davenport. She preceded him in death on September 1, 2014.
Dennis worked briefly at Bendix in Davenport and then Red Jacket Pump for over 20 years before retiring in 1988.
He was skilled in woodworking, leathercrafting, gardening, and enjoyed watching sports especially the Iowa Hawkeyes, Boston Celtics, and Chicago Bears.
Those left to honor his memory include his children Dennis (Valerie) Dolan of Bettendorf; Sandra (Eric) Wamsley, of Eldridge, Julie Donahue of DeWitt, Debbie (James) Incledon of Palm Beach Gardens, FL and Jon (Laura) Dolan, Joliet, IL; grandchildren Courtney, Katie, Sean, Crystal, Jenny, Austin, Nicole, Joseph, Tanya, Rachel, James, Michelle, Steven, Payton; great grandchildren Mahki, Evin, Drake, Jaxson, Delaney, Oliver, Olivia, Paxton, Quinn, Piper, Justin, Thomas, Donald; siblings Marilyn Quijas, Terry Dolan, Kathy Reddington, Susie Dolan; and sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews and their families.
In addition to his wife Josephine, he was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Yvelle Dolan, Josie’s parents Joseph and Patricia Valle, twin daughters, Bernadette and Teresa, brother Patrick, sister Jean, and sons-in-law Brian Wamsley and Kevin Donahue.
