Funeral services to celebrate the life of Dean E. Jones, 56, of Davenport, will be 1:30 p.m. Friday, December 7, 2018 at Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Center Chapel, 4001 N. Brady St., Davenport. Burial will be in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation will be Friday from 12p.m. until the time of the service in the Chapel at the Salvation Army Center. Memorials may be made to the family. Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Dean passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer.
Dean Edward Jones was born on September 16, 1962 in Indianapolis, Indiana, a son of Rodney E. and Edna (Williams) Jones. He was a 1980 graduate of Arsenal Technical High School and attended Ferris State University.
Dean had worked at the Salvation Army Center and previously drove a truck from West Side Transport out of Cedar Rapids and Schneider Transport out of Wisconsin.
Dean could fix anything and everything, he especially liked to tinker and was never one to stand around and be idle. In his younger years, he enjoyed fishing. Dean also enjoyed gatherings of family and friends.
Dean is survived by his fiancée, Debbie Bennett, Davenport; daughters: Shawna (Levi) VanBlaricum, Indianapolis and Kallie Jones, New Castle, Indiana; Debbie’s children: David (Ashley) England, Kristina (Kayla) Williams, Vickie Fretto, Peter (Liz) Fretto, all of Davenport, and Savannah (Nick) Wiebel, Rock Island; many loving grandchildren; his father, Rodney (Ruth) Jones, Indianapolis; a brother, Douglas Jones, step-siblings: Rose (Jim) Poetz, Indianapolis, Ronnie (Nikki) Gurley, Lapel, Indiana, Theresa (Mike) Hodge, Noblesville, Indiana, Donna (Dan) Radcliff, Indianapolis, and Melvin; and a large extended family.
He was preceded in death by his mother.
Dean's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Genesis Hospice for all their loving and compassionate care.
